Holly Bertrand’s Sculpted Animals and Relief Prints

calendar icon September 9, 2026

For the months of September and October sculpted animal creations and relief prints by artist Holly Bertrand are on display in and above the Larchwood Room Glass Cases. The sculptures and prints feature whimsical and recognizable wildlife like owls, armadillos, bats, and more, and are a delight to behold.

After retiring from a forty year Art teaching career, Holly Bertrand of Blue Hill spends her days hiking the Blue Hill Peninsula collecting natural materials to incorporate into her sculpture projects. The base of her sculptures consist of recycled materials and papier-mâché. Once the base is completed, the surface textures consisting of tree lichen, feathers, pinecone pieces and seed pods are then applied. Relief printmaking is also one of Holly’s favorite mediums to explore. The images are carved into soft rubber blocks then printed on recycled papers.
