The library presents “Clay Sculptures of the Human Form” by Leda Ball in the library’s Roland Howard Room Exhibit Cases from November 2 to December 29. In December, Leda’s exhibition will expand to include figure drawings by local artists, including herself, who meet weekly to study from a live model. The public will be invited to a reception for both shows in December.

Leda is a Maine native and has lived in Penobscot for the past 10 years. She studied drawing and painting at the University of Maine in Machias and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and began working with clay and sculpting the human form at the Portland School of Art while living in Portland, Oregon.

About her work, Leda says, “Clay has become my medium of choice because of its flexibility and forgiving nature and allows me to add and subtract as I build my pieces.  I love working with the human form because I find it so challenging.”

The exhibition will be available for viewing during library hours through December 29, subject to the Roland Howard Room meeting room schedule. For more information contact the library at 374-5515.
