BHPL Board Member: Susan Kirk

Susan Kirk moved to Blue Hill in 2021. A large draw was the library, due to its fascinating history, connection to the New Deal-era PWA, and extensive event offerings. Susan volunteers with Healthy Peninsula.  She was also an original participant in Wednesday Seekers at St. Francis by the Sea.

Susan has lived and worked in Boston, San Francisco, Portland, ME, Evanston, IL, Reston, VA and Melbourne, Australia.  Through these experiences Susan has developed an interest in helping newcomers adapt to new places.  Susan is an art appreciator and coordinated art based fundraisers with Original Works in greater Boston area schools. She is also an advocate for acknowledgement of women in history and has worked with libraries and other venues to build awareness of Frances Perkins’ life and life’s work. She currently serves on the board of the Frances Perkins Center in Newcastle, ME and has served as a board member of the League of Women Voters Needham, The Bay Colony Rail Trail, and was the Volunteer Coordinator at the Needham Congregational Church for Family Promise Metrowest in Natick, MA.
