Haystack Mentor Program links local high school students with area artists in their studios. Mentorships provide an intensive educational environment – a great way to develop new skills and experiences. Students work in their mentors’ studios during the weekends, for 2 to 6 hrs a day, for up to 24 hours of mentor and studio time. The Mentor Program happens every year from January to the end of March.
Participating High Schools:
Bucksport High School – 1 student
Mount Desert Island High School -3 students
George Stevens Academy – 13 students
Blue Hill Harbor School – 4 students
Deer Isle-Stonington High School – 10 students
Support for the 2020 Mentor Program was provided through Haystack’s funds from Annie & Chuck Holland, the Belvedere Fund, and Betsy Rowland.
