calendar icon July 15, 2024 - July 20, 2024

If you were out enjoying the sunny weather on the Blue Hill Peninsula last week, you may have seen artists here and there capturing a local landscape on canvas as part of the Blue Hill Public Library’s Paint the Peninsula fundraiser. More than ninety artists have created over 100 paintings for the week-long auction, which starts Monday, July 15th.

This much-anticipated event showcases the work of mostly-local artists, including quite a few newcomers, in an online auction during the week of July 15th to 20th. There will be a closing reception on Saturday, July 20th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. The final moments of bidding will take place during the party, which always leads to additional excitement.

During the auction week, paintings will be available for viewing online or in-person at the library. Offering a broad range of painting styles and points of view, Paint the Peninsula Week is a great opportunity to start buying local art or add to an established collection. Sales support both the Blue Hill Library’s operating budget and the local arts community. Anyone can place bids on the auction website at www.fundraiser.support/BHPLptp2024.

The library is grateful once again to this year’s lead sponsor, the Merle B. Grindle Agency of Blue Hill, and to major sponsors, the Christopher Group, Hewes & Company and an anonymous benefactor.

The Blue Hill Public Library is an independent, non-profit organization serving all members of the Blue Hill Peninsula and depends on the financial support of the local community. For more information, call the library at 374-5515 or visit www.bhpl.net.
