On January 21, Claire reads Facts vs. Opinions vs. Robots  by Michael Rex.

The Chickadee Award: A Maine Children’s Choice Picture Book Project is a picture book award program for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Starting on Friday, January 7, participants will receive a link by email each week for ten weeks to a new recording of Youth Services Librarian Claire Malina reading one of the nominated picture books.  All ages are welcome to register to view the videos, but only children in kindergarten through fourth grade can cast a vote. The ballots will be due back to Claire by Friday, March 18 and will be submitted on behalf of the Blue Hill Library to the Chickadee Book Award Committee. To participate, register using the library’s interactive calendar or call the library at 374-5515.

This award is in its sixteenth year, and is given annually to one of ten picture books nominated by a committee of teachers, librarians, and early literacy professionals, with the winner chosen by Maine school children. The purpose of this award is to encourage children to develop an appreciation for excellence in writing and illustration that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. The Maine Association of School Libraries is providing financial support for this project.

For more information, contact Claire at or call 374-5515.
