Assistant Director, posted 3/31/16

The Blue Hill Public Library has an upcoming opening for an Assistant Director. This is a full-time, year-round position with regular night and weekend shifts plus some irregular hours.  The successful applicant will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, computer proficiency, prior supervisory experience, an outgoing personality, and a positive, pro-patron, service-minded attitude.  Prior library employment experience and/or an ALA-accredited Masters in Library Science or equivalent would be a plus.

Major responsibilities include working closely with other staff to design and implement engaging cultural programs, acting as the circulation manager, and providing great reference and inter-library loan services.  This position requires nearly constant interaction with the public, volunteers and coworkers.

Compensation for this exempt, salaried position is $35,000 - $41,000 annually, plus benefits as outlined in the library’s employee handbook.

The Blue Hill Public Library is a 501(c)3 public library that employs a staff equivalent to 7 full time employees, serves 6,500 patrons, is open 55 hours weekly, and lends from a collection of 44,000 items.  The library is a busy community hub, recording 120,000 annual visits and 118,000 annual circulation and digital transactions.   Last year the library hosted over 400 library-sponsored cultural programs for various ages.  The library also served as a venue for 481 additional community-sponsored events. 
Recently the library has been making significant green improvements to its facility and continues to work towards lowering its environmental impact
