May 1, 2019 - May 31, 2019
Blue Hill photographer John Woodruff will exhibit photographs at the Blue Hill Public Library during May in a show titled, It’s a Matter of When. According to Woodruff, his photos are “abstracts of the sun and moon exploring the interaction of color and shape.”
About his work Woodruff says, “Everything in life is a pattern. Everything I have ever done photographically seems to have something to do with patterns.” He continues, “Organic, biomorphic shapes cut from Xeroxes of the sun and moon are composed on a flat surface and given life with low horizon lights that enhance the colors and provide depth from shadows. The images I created exist at the intersection of imagery and abstraction, painting and photography.”
John Woodruff has a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Hartford with a minor in photography from Hartford Art School. The show will be in the library’s Britton Gallery and Roland Howard Room, available for viewing beginning May 1st, during library hours subject to the Howard Room schedule.
