June 1, 2019 - July 31, 2019
The Blue Hill Public Library has a new exhibit in the children’s Larchwood case for the months of June and July, Dolls, Dolls, Dolls, an international dolls display from the collection of Marjorie Yesley. These dolls, collected mostly in the 1950s and 1960s, were gifts from Marjorie’s parents, or chosen by Marjorie when they were on trips together.
The dolls are wearing outfits that represent countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. Marjorie says, “The colorful dresses seem so quaint now but I often saw them on real people walking down real streets in real towns, with the plaids, stripes, stitching embellishments, pom-poms, lace, caps, and tams–all expressions of particular cultures.”
The exhibit will be available for viewing during library hours through the end of July. For more information call the library at 374-5515.
