February 2, 2018 4:00 pm - 5:45 pm
The Blue Hill Public Library invites teens to the third in a new monthly afterschool film series on Friday, February 2nd at 4:00 PM. February’s film, in honor of Black History Month, is Get Out, a 2017 horror film written and directed by Jordan Peele. This film is the first in a series of five horror films based on social justice issues. Get Out explores race in a way which turns the conversation on its head by using horror tropes to help viewers understand how it feels to be black in America.
The library’s Teen Film Series welcomes teens of all ages, with a suggested age range of 13 and up. The movies cover a wide range of subjects and styles, so teens and their families are encouraged to research them in advance to decide which are appropriate. We suggest Common Sense Media as one source of information for families. Get Out, in particular, contains mature content.
