Teen Film Series: Donnie Darko

BHPL is excited to offer a teen film series for the next 6 months. We will be watching films from a variety of genres including indie/science fiction, action, anime/foreign, horror, comedy, and drama. Several of our films are based on young adult novels and they explore everything from social justice issues, to mental health, to time travel!

December’s film is our indie/sci-fi offering “Donnie Darko”. A troubled teenager, Donnie Darko, escapes death when a jet-engine crashes in his bedroom, because he follows a giant bunny leading him outside. The bunny, called Frank, tells him that the world will end in 28 days. What is real and what isn’t? You decide! This cult-classic is sure to provide lots of food for thought.

Our Teen Film Series welcomes teens of all ages, with a suggested age range of 13 and up. The movies we watch together cover a wide range of subjects and styles, and we encourage teens and their families to research them in advance and decide which are right for you and your teen.
