Local quilt and needlework designer/maker Carrie Palmer will present a seven-week counted cross stitch course for kids, “Stitch Club,”at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesdays, starting on October 3rd. Program participants will complete two small projects over the course of the seven weeks, while learning basic vocabulary, how to hold & thread a needle, different stitches including cross stitch, back stitch, & running stitch, as well as thread tension, and finishing options for pieces. Carrie will have projects suitable for a range of ages.
Carrie has been an “arts & craftser” for as long as she can remember, cross-stitching next to her mother from an early age. Over the years stitching & sewing have become an essential part of everyday, whether it’s cross stitch stars for the Christmas tree, quilting, or simply sewing on a button. She believes that sewing is a handy skill and a wonderful hobby.
