Poet and photographer Betsy Headley, resident of Swanville Maine, will read from her new collection, “Something is Always Left,” published by Maine Authors Publishing. This is her first poetry book. Since living in Mid-Coast Maine, Headley has participated in numerous poetry contests, open-mic readings, and performed “Amma in Three Acts” for A Poem to Behold event in The Belfast Poetry Festival. Her work has been published in Off the Coast and the Aurorean.
Betsy has studied poetry at the college level in Colorado and Maine, and belonged to several poetry groups over the years. Since 2009, she has been a member of a poetry group facilitated by Belfast poet Barbaria Maria.
“Something Is Always Left” explores the poet’s winding journey through Iowa tornados, saddle shoe struggles, subways in Japan, loss of grandparents, musings on parenthood, aging, spiritual peace, and world reflection. Nature provides a steady source of strength and guidance to Betsy.
