December 6, 2017 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In honor of the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, come to the library and learn to dance like it’s 1817.
English Country Dance instructors Nancy Rosalie and John McIntire, who have organized English Country Dancing in this area for 20 or so years, will teach a brief lesson at 7:00, followed by dancing with music by the North Star Sisters.
English Country Dance is similar to the American tradition of Contra Dance, in which couples dance together in a figure or “set” while a “caller” leads the dance by announcing the steps. While this traditional form of dance has been around for hundreds of years, it’s still popular today, and is easy for anyone to learn.
Jane Austen costumes are not required, but prizes will be awarded for the best ones!Location: Main Room
Event Type: Library-sponsored Adult Event
